How long between 9:15 pm Friday and 7:40 am Monday? This time duration calculator measures the exact elapsed time between any two moments — as days, hours and minutes, and as total hours and total minutes — the formats you need for timesheets, billing and planning.
How the duration is calculated
Because each field carries a full date and time, the subtraction spans midnight, weekends, month boundaries and even years without any manual carrying. Worked example: 9:15 pm Friday to 7:40 am Monday = 2 days, 10 hours, 25 minutes — or 58 hours 25 minutes total, or 3,505 minutes.
Total hours vs hours-and-minutes
The same span reads two ways: "2 days 10:25" is intuitive, but invoices and payroll want a single number of hours (58.42 in decimal). The calculator shows both so you can copy whichever your form expects, with no conversion mistakes.
Common uses
Long shifts and on-call periods, flight and travel time across time boundaries, machine run-times, event lengths, service-level clocks, parking and rental durations — anywhere you need a precise gap between two timestamps. If the end is before the start, the calculator flags it so a typo can't produce a silently negative duration.
