Hours worked
Hours = (clock-out − clock-in) − unpaid break · Pay = hours × rate
Convert times to a 24-hour clock first, subtract, then take off any unpaid break. Overtime in the US is typically 1.5× the regular rate for hours beyond 40 in a week. Minutes convert to decimals for payroll: 15 min = 0.25 h, 30 min = 0.5 h, 45 min = 0.75 h.
Calculating paid hours
Enter when you clocked in and out and how long your unpaid break was. The calculator subtracts the break and shows your worked time in HH:MM and in decimal hours — the format payroll uses to multiply by your rate. Add an hourly rate to see gross pay.
Overnight shifts are supported: if the end time is before the start time, it's counted as the following day.
