Weighted GPA
GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ credits

Each letter grade maps to points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, …), weighted by the course's credit hours so heavier courses count more. Multiply each course's points by its credits, sum them, and divide by total credits. Honors/AP scales may add 0.5–1.0 per grade.

Calculating your GPA

Grade point average is a credit-weighted average: each grade becomes points on the 4.0 scale, multiplied by the course's credits, summed, and divided by total credits. Add a row for every class, set the grade and credits, and your GPA updates live.

Because it's credit-weighted, a strong grade in a 4-credit course moves your GPA more than the same grade in a 1-credit course.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is GPA calculated? +

Each grade maps to points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, …). Multiply each course's points by its credits, add them up, and divide by the total credits — a credit-weighted average.

What scale does this use? +

The standard US 4.0 scale, including +/− grades (A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, and so on).

Weighted vs unweighted GPA? +

This is credit-weighted (courses with more credits count more). It does not add bonus points for honors/AP classes — that is a separate "weighted high school GPA" concept.
