Each letter grade maps to points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, …), weighted by the course's credit hours so heavier courses count more. Multiply each course's points by its credits, sum them, and divide by total credits. Honors/AP scales may add 0.5–1.0 per grade.
Calculating your GPA
Grade point average is a credit-weighted average: each grade becomes points on the 4.0 scale, multiplied by the course's credits, summed, and divided by total credits. Add a row for every class, set the grade and credits, and your GPA updates live.
Because it's credit-weighted, a strong grade in a 4-credit course moves your GPA more than the same grade in a 1-credit course.
